Trilliant Unity Suite Analytics in Spotlight at European Utility Week 2016
Pace of innovation, rising volume of data, urgency of cyber and physical security are drivers of new single-platform approach from the communications provider
BARCELONA – (November 16, 2016) – Trilliant, the global leader in enterprise-wide smart energy communications, asserted the need for a new approach to analytics for energy providers at the panel “Big Data & Analytics – Outcomes as a Service” at European Utility Week.
Trilliant Managing Director of Europe, Middle East and Africa, Meri Braziel, joined the panel Tuesday to address the needs energy retailers and utilities face. “The pace of innovation is accelerating and energy providers must manage multiple risks while investing wisely in approaches that are future proof, secure and nimble enough to adapt,” Braziel said.
She sees parallels between the effect smart grid had on utility communications and the challenges big data brings to utilities today. Braziel said, “As the movement matured, utilities began to recognize the obstacles – including interoperability, brand or technology obsolescence, and information management and security — of a hodgepodge of device-specific solutions. Big data has only increased those challenges.”
Braziel outlined key characteristics of the Trilliant UnitySuite Business Intelligence module including extensive visualization capabilities and data normalization intended to put the power of this highly scalable and performant application right in the hands of the end-user. The initial offering includes three components, smart grid device management, performance management and network analysis, while additional solutions are being planned for future releases.
The Trilliant analytics offering provides utilities a flexible, device-agnostic approach to delivering vast volumes of data from disparate streams, making it accessible under secure conditions, with flexible and powerful analytics that empower energy providers to analyze and apply it to virtually unlimited scenarios and uses.
Additional details on the new offering are available by appointment at Trilliant’s booth #3C141 at European Utility Week and by appointment. Additional detail will be announced at DistribuTECH 2017 in San Diego, California from January 31 to February 2, 2017.
